Goat and sheep are NOT susceptible to poison ivy, which makes them great at helping to eliminate it from our property. But then they share, which is not so great. I always forget to treat the kids like hazardous material when they come back in, giving out rubs and scratches, checking feet or picking one up to give an assist after a foot got caught in a tree fork. I find Tecnu really helps control my reaction to it.
Out in the pasture we are seeing several of our Texas Native Prairie grasses top out, including the golden seeded 6′ tall Indiangrass and different Bluestem varieties. August is for mowing to help re-seed our pastures and encourage new fall growth. It is almost unheard of to get rain in Texas during August, but everyone in our ag community is thankful for the milder summer temps and the blessing last week of almost 1.25 inches of rain.
