It’s a warm dry May on the farm so far, watching spring rains drift just north or south of us. Texas dries out fast and the spring rye is already seeding out heavily encouraging the goats nibble up the ripe seed tops. Back at the house, this year’s garden is getting busy – I’ve started drying herbs (basil, dill, tulsi, sage) and we are now into making salads daily. Tomato plants are all setting good fruit, and I’ve just started picking green beans. Now comes the hard part — keeping up with the harvest daily and preserving as much as possible!
