I’ve barely been outside all summer which is what one does in Texas when it is 115 outside for more than 45 days. Not a lot of photo inspiration out there so this post is a little weak, but we did have a surprise set of twins show up! I appears that last little boy we sold in spring was, in fact, old enough and left us a parting gift. And I never knew this could happen but this was PJ’s first pregnancy and HER mother went into Nurture Mode with her! Grandma (white goat in the photo) nuzzled and hovered over those babies like they were her own, and she even started lactating!! I was worried at first that it would cause problems, but no – those kids just have two mamas and everybody is fine with it. Here’s the Family pic below.

We are well into September and the pastures are all a pale straw color, the grass in our yard is crunchy. I did grab a ruler (not long enough!) and then a tape measure to check some of the cracks in the yard courtesy of our Blackland Prairie clay soils because they are pretty crazy this year.
